Description

A simple note taking app using googles material design philosophy. The premise for creating this app was to simply make a new note managing app which is barebones but still good-looking. With the features generally just sticking to adding, editing and deleting the notes. I ended up adding an option to change the layout of the notes so that larger screens didn’t looks as bad when there was just a single column for 1 note. With the new option the user can change between a staggered grid view or stick with the original linear view. Other than that the core features remained the same. When coming up with a way to add, edit and delete the notes I decided that I would keep it as simple and intuitive as possible. This meant that to add a note, there should be an easy to find button to quickly add a new note. To edit a note, the user should just be able to press on a note. Finally, to delete a note the user should be able to swipe a note off the screen. There were some pitfalls on the way but in the end I was able to do everything I had intended to do.

Creating the app was not a very long process as I was mainly focused on learning the android platform and getting to know my way around the Android Studio IDE. Upon completion, I felt that I had a reasonable understanding of how to make a usable android application. In the future this might be a project that I come back to, so I can hopefully see an improvement in my abilities. When I had finished, the app was put on the play store so that people who would like to use a simple note taking app like this one are able to freely download it and use it as much as they like.
